16 Years of Compassionate Care: Celebrating B’zoe Care’s Anniversary

B'zoe Care 16th Anniversary

Sixteen years ago, a single mother who had recently immigrated from Uganda sat with a client who had become like family and realized something profound: the difference between adequate care and truly compassionate care isn’t just skill. It’s heart.

That woman was Prossie Lockett. And that realization became B’zoe Care.

Where It All Began

When Prossie arrived in Bellevue, Washington in 1997, she brought more than a willingness to build a new life. She brought a personal understanding of what it means to have a loved one who needs care. Her own mother had been aging back home in Uganda while Prossie built a new life thousands of miles away. That feeling never left her, and by 2000 she had earned her certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant and begun her caregiving career.

Her first client quickly became much more than a professional relationship. What started as companionship and individualized care grew into a 24-hour commitment, and into the kind of bond that only forms when a caregiver genuinely leads with love. A decade of that experience shaped everything B’zoe Care would become when Prossie founded it in 2010.

From those years of caregiving, Prossie built a company rooted in one simple, unwavering belief: every person deserves compassionate and dignified care.

Sixteen Years Later

What began as a one-person operation has grown into a trusted home care provider serving families across Washington and Texas, with offices in Bellevue and Bothell and services reaching communities from Seattle and Tacoma to Austin and San Antonio. Arizona and Florida are on the horizon.

But here’s what makes B’zoe Care truly remarkable: the most important things haven’t changed at all.

Prossie remains a caregiver at heart. She still provides hands-on care to clients today. The same compassion that moved her to start this company in a single-family relationship still drives every decision, every hire, and every care plan B’zoe delivers.

Our mission to enrich the lives of those we serve through compassionate, high-quality, personalized care is the same mission Prossie carried with her on day one.

A Team That Lives Our Values

Building a company like B’zoe Care means assembling a team that doesn’t just do the work, but believes in it. Our caregivers undergo extensive training anchored in core values: hard work, compassion, dignity, and respect. We take the time to understand each client’s unique needs, then match them with a licensed professional best suited to provide exactly the care they need.

That commitment to excellence doesn’t go unnoticed. In 2025, our own Lizzie Sinkala, CNA, was recognized as a Top 5 Finalist for the Caregiver of the Year Award by the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA), a nationwide honor that reflects the caliber of people who wear the B’zoe name.

Behind every great caregiver is a team working to support them. Over sixteen years, we’ve built a dedicated staff including leadership in operations, finance, and business development, all united by the same people-first philosophy that Prossie instilled from the beginning.

“Our Family Caring for Yours” Really Means

It’s easy to say those words. It’s harder to live them every day, across hundreds of client relationships, through the full range of care needs: from companionship and daily assistance to hospice support, staffing solutions for healthcare facilities, and hospital-to-home transitions.

Caring for someone’s loved one is an act of profound trust. We know that. We’ve known it since Prossie sat with her very first client and understood, in the most personal way possible, what quality care truly means to a family.

That’s why our process starts with getting to know you, not just your care needs, but you. It’s why we’re available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And it’s why, sixteen years in, the heart of this company still beats the same way it did in 2010.

Thank You

To our clients and their families: thank you for trusting us with the people who matter most to you. That trust is not something we take lightly. It is something we earn and re-earn every day.

To our caregivers and nurses: thank you for showing up with compassion, professionalism, and patience, often in the most difficult moments of a family’s journey. You are B’zoe Care.

To our staff, partners, and community: thank you for being part of this story. Sixteen years of consistent, compassionate care is not the work of one person. It’s the work of every person who has ever been part of this family.

Here’s to the next sixteen years, and to every family we have yet to meet.
