Hospice care is a specialized form of care that focuses on enhancing the quality of life of individuals suffering from an advanced life-limiting illness. The primary objective of hospice care is to offer compassionate care to individuals during the last stages of an incurable disease so they may live their remaining days to the fullest and with utmost comfort.
Hospice philosophy acknowledges death as the final stage of life, and it aims to affirm life while not trying to hasten or postpone death. The primary focus of hospice care is to manage symptoms and provide relief to the person rather than curing the disease itself.Â
Our hospice care team comprises certified professionals who work together to control symptoms, ensuring that the person’s last days are spent with dignity and quality while surrounded by their loved ones. It is paramount that hospice care is family-centered. Our team involves the patient and their family in making every crucial decision.
The end-of-life journey can be difficult for everyone involved, both logistically and emotionally. At B’zoe, we have trained care professionals who know what needs to be done. We offer personalized hospice care and 24-hour home care services while managing comfort dignifiedly. We understand receiving hospice care at home is a sensitive matter, and families deserve nothing but the best. Our empathetic care professionals understand this very well.
When all other options have been exhausted, and further care is no longer effective or too much to bear; we prioritize comfort and love above everything else.
B’zoe Care provides home hospice care for all:
Home hospice care is specialized, compassionate end-of-life support provided in a person’s own home for individuals with a terminal illness and a prognosis of six months or less. The philosophy shifts the focus from curing illness to managing pain, maximizing comfort, and supporting the patient’s quality of life and dignity. B’zoe provides hospice support services that work alongside a licensed hospice provider, keeping your loved one comfortable and cared for in familiar surroundings.
B’zoe provides supplemental hospice support services. Our trained caregivers work alongside your chosen licensed hospice provider (which supplies the medical team: nurses, social workers, chaplains, physicians). B’zoe’s role is to deliver in-home caregiving support around the clock: personal care, comfort assistance, companionship, light housekeeping, and managing daily logistics so your family can focus on quality time together.
To receive hospice care, a patient generally must have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less, certified by two physicians, and agree to shift the focus from curative treatment to comfort care. Hospice is available at any age for any terminal diagnosis, including cancer, heart failure, COPD, dementia, and ALS.
B’zoe’s hospice support services include:
Palliative care focuses on comfort and symptom management and can be provided at any stage of illness, even alongside curative treatment. Hospice is a specific type of palliative care for individuals in the final phase of a terminal illness who have chosen to stop curative treatment. In other words, all hospice is palliative, but not all palliative care is hospice.
Many patients and families strongly prefer home hospice because it allows the person to spend their remaining time in familiar surroundings, with pets, personal belongings, and loved ones nearby. Research shows home hospice can reduce hospitalizations and improve satisfaction for both patients and caregivers. The right choice depends on the complexity of the patient’s symptoms and the availability of family support; B’zoe provides the professional caregiving infrastructure that makes home hospice sustainable.
Yes. A patient enrolled in hospice may continue to see their own physician, especially for conditions unrelated to the terminal diagnosis. The hospice provider’s medical director oversees the comfort care plan, but the patient’s relationship with their primary physician does not have to end.
B’zoe’s caregivers provide personal care, companionship, and daily living support, not skilled medical services like wound care, IV administration, or physical therapy. Those clinical services are provided by the licensed hospice agency. B’zoe and the hospice team work together to ensure all needs are covered between the two services.
B’zoe can provide continuous in-home caregiving (including overnight) throughout the hospice journey. Intensity typically increases as the patient’s needs grow. We work with families to develop a care schedule that evolves with the situation, from a few hours per day in the early stages to 24-hour support in the final days.
Absolutely not. Choosing hospice is a compassionate, courageous decision to prioritize comfort, dignity, and quality of life when curative treatment is no longer effective or desired. Hospice philosophy affirms life while accepting the natural process of dying. Many families report that hospice allows their loved one to live their remaining time more fully, surrounded by family and free from the burdens of aggressive treatment. B’zoe’s team honors this perspective in every interaction.
Our caregivers provide practical help with personal care, housekeeping, and meals, freeing family members to be emotionally present with their loved one. We keep family informed of any changes in condition and coordinate with the hospice agency’s social workers and chaplains. We can also help arrange respite care so family caregivers have the opportunity to rest.
Yes. Enrolling in hospice does not mean a permanent, irreversible decision. If a patient’s condition stabilizes or improves, or if the family chooses to pursue curative treatment again, the patient can be discharged from hospice care and return to standard medical treatment at any time. In fact, some patients improve enough through hospice comfort care that they are formally discharged and go on to receive active treatment again. The decision to enroll in hospice is always the patient’s and family’s to make, and it can be revisited. B’zoe’s role is to support whatever path your family chooses with compassionate, consistent care.
